So stock ford 302, went to put in starter and noticed the mid plate not aligned with bolt holes ? Its already fitted between tran and engine, so what do you think ? Covering 3/4 of the hole. I do not think it will move enough being its already mounted

If the alignment dowels and bell housing bolts all fit properly through the plate but the bolt holes don't line up for the starter, then the mid plate is for a different bell housing or automatic transmission.

You didn't mention your transmission, but I think the Tremec applications require the mid plate and starter for an automatic trans.

Its a T-5, guess I need a mid plate, darn!

A carbide bit on a drill will fix that misalignment. Be sure to get a good bit.

What bell housing are you using? As already stated some bells use a different plate and starter. If your midplate and starter are from the same source you might need both.
