I'm Shadow or Seth. from Tulsa, living in Claremore ok. I'm a 20y/o certified motorcycle mechanic/forklift operator and always been interested in anything with an engine, especially if it is fast and or fun, which is why I googled "best kit cars" one night and fell in love with the price, idea, and look of the 818. (And the dreaming began lol) mainly because I find the factory cars nowadays overpriced and underpowered, as i'm spoiled by fast streetbikes and dirtbikes ;)

Then i found this forum and was overwhelmed with the help and family like community, and non offensive replies I saw where people actually help eachother. Seeing as I plan on building one of these sweet cars, i am soaking up as much information as possible. The amount of information and ease that some of you guys seem to posess while building these is crazy, I expected to be all on my own! hopefully I can help others and will enjoy the experience when I have a shop built and the funds available, but do I EVER want build one of these BAD!

Hello to all.

Its been one of my most challenging projects so far, but also fun and addictive at the same time. I've learned a lot by building this car. Its also lightened my wallet!
My friend, don't get discouraged. You are only 20! I'm 61 and have employed most of my lifetime skills in this build. You still have a lot of learning to do, so don't rush into anything. The range of quality will vary depending upon the expertise of the individual builder. Some people resign themselves to building it as FFR has outlined, and others, myself included, decide to make changes along the way. This will be your challenge, to build your car as uniquely as you yourself are. Think things through. Use your brain. You can do it. Oh, by the way, save a big pile of money before you start, you're going to need it!

Yeah i plan to go by the book, and I have a lot more skills than most people my age, but I'm a tinkerer and can handle some mods to the kit I'm sure. Actually hoping to make it a father son project, it seems like a great one(spreads the cost over two people too and gives me more experience at my disposal)

The money thing is what scares me, donors aren't super cheap around here and the Coupe kit alone is as much as most new entry level cheap cars. I think the challenge will be worth all of it tho, and these seem to have pretty good resale value too compared to other vehicles so that's a plus.

I know I've got a LOT of research to do in the future, and plan to attend the build school before I buy a kit just to get a feel for it
