View Full Version : Dash Wiring Question

Starting to think about wiring up the dashboard and didn't take long to get confused. First off, the supplied power distribution harness and power inverter only seem to accommodate 4 gauges. I'm using the FF vintage gauges, of which there are a total of 7. Did FF send me the wrong harness/inverter, or am I missing something?

Second question has to do with the RF wiring harness. The dash harness that plugs into the three connectors on the main chassis harness includes two wires for the speed sensor (green and gray wires). But there's also a separate set of unterminated wires (shown below) that appear to serve the same purpose. Why the duplication? Or maybe I'm missing something here, too...

The little daisy chain harnesses that Speedhut provides for power (red, white and black) and lighting (black, black w/stripe and inverter) each have eight positions. A little hard to tell from you unwrapped versions in the picture, but looks like that's what you have. One connector for each gauge, and then a long end that hooks to the RF harness. The harness does have two sets of speed control wires. One in the dash harness for the speedo and another pair (that's Y'd off the dash ones) for the EFI computer. Some need it.

Yes, I see it now - they're daisy-chained and not individual harnesses with a connector at end end. Duh - my mistake. Thanks for the enlightenment.

My aftermarket EFI system does not reference a speed sensor signal. Is that a donor thing, or??

I think so, but I'm not positive. I've only ever needed the speed sensor signal for the speedo itself. And the current build doesn't even need that since it's a GPS speedo and the Coyote PCM doesn't need a speed sensor signal either. I'm leaving the wires in just in case, but both pairs will just be tied off and unused.
