View Full Version : New F150 Coyote exhaust question for Mustang Man Houlihan

So, it's at the dealer and I'm picking it up Tuesday, and I think I'll be using it to trailer the FIA body home from the body shop (after 5 months!) It's a short bed/short cab (122" WB), which is what I have been getting since 1993.

I want to get the exhaust a little louder, but I am not in a position to throw $1,000 on a Borla or Roush system, at least not so soon after dropping mucho dinero on the FIA paint job. I just want to make a little more noise, so I'm thinking of just removing the resonator or muffler, just to see what happens.

Anyone have any idea which one I should chop out first?

Sorry Joe, for some reason I was logged out of the forum and not paying attention to OT much...

Anyway, I've not messed with too many of the new F-150s. The couple I've laid hands on we've done MagnaFlow systems on, but yeah, that's going to be up there with your Roush thoughts. I would cut the muffler first and leave the resonator. Either add a filler pipe in place of the muffler or make a new turn down or side-exit tip from where the muffler used to be.

HTH...

Mark, the F150 forums' consensus is just that, cut out the muffler and see how it sounds. I have about 500 miles on it now and I have to admit, this is a hell of a ride. I haven't gotten a speeding ticket in 50 years, but I can see a few in my future.
