Does anyone have experience with Alex's (or other) wheel well liners as far as installation, appearance, and effectiveness.

The only experience I have is that I have a set of them for my Mk3.1 that are sitting in my basement, new in the box and never installed. PM me if you think they will fit your car and if you'd like them.

Installed a couple weeks ago in MK IV after going to Portland, Or and meeting Alex Installation was fairly easy and he provides all the parts which isn't many to install.

These look nice. I am new here and just researching and learning.
Are these just for looks or do they have a superior function over what is provided in the kit?

Have Alex's on mine. Pretty easy install. Guess they are effective, no stars in the fenders paint. Sort of an install & forget item.

Scott-

They are for looks to be sure, as they finish off the look in the wheel well, giving it a more modern OEM type look. However, they also serve a function as well, and that is they help prevent rocks and similar debris from getting kicked up and striking the underside of the body. While it won't eliminate all stars and such, it will certainly help eliminate some. That alone is worth the price of admission as far as I am concerned!

I hope I have answered your question. If not let me know, and I can try to provide a better answer. Other folks will also likely chime in with their thoughts.

Regards,

Steve

Thanks Steve. Sounds good.

Follow up question: Is this something you can easily add on at the end or after the build is completed or do you need to install them when the body goes on?

they need to be installed after body is on for final time. You just want to be sure the elephant ears are set back from wheel well lip about 1/2 inch or more. 3-5 plastic trim push pins are installed after drilling 1/4" hole through pre located holes in the well liners into the elephant ears. I run the sticky Good Year Bill Boards and it helps with the rock noise on the aluminum panels. They are both very functional and cosmetic
