Okay guys, I was wondering how long you guys waited on parts? I don't know do I call factory five or just leave them be to do their job. I'm at a stopping point, if I had one of the parts I could finish another step lol. I just don't want to bug them they have been more than great!

I had over 40 parts missing or back ordered. Order placed 11/23, picked up 1/2. Still have 4 parts outstanding as of 4/17. I may have gotten the short end of the stick though as my kit was packed during the holiday hang over and inventory period and I was missing two full boxes that indicated they were packed. I would just advise waiting it out. They will get to it eventually.

Dave could really use an capital spend to upgrade his inventory management system though (hint hint). Bar code scanners for all parts, inventory, and production steps would give additional efficiency in production throughput management, allow auto ordering of inventory based on expected use and vendor lead time, and would allow them to tie part numbers to instructions and make very quick and easy updates to documentation with changes in vendors and kit revisions.

Hey Donnie & Duke,

1. When I ordered my kit it was on 11/10/2014 and asked for a delivery date to be in January of 2015.
2. I had roughly a 15-20 missing parts and most of them showed up within 30-60 days after the kit was delivered; however, I did check with them once or twice each week on all of the back ordered items.
3. My recommendation is to call once or twice each week with the best days being Monday & Thursday and consider following up with an E-Mail if the telephone calls fails.
4. Remember to remain professional & courteous at all times because the Tech/Sales folk are not in charge of the inventory and shipping.
5. Finally, you will always catch more flies with Honey than with Vinegar!

When I got my kit, I got all parts except for the steering wheel hub and door latches, which took about 45 days, which was no big deal because I didn't need them yet. I had a few packs of hardware that was missing, which didn't take long to get. A couple of the extras I ordered were not even on the list, took a few more weeks to get my rear konis, later I figured out that the rear upper hardware pack was wrong, I got the wrong spacers and bolts too short, once I called them, they shipped out pretty fast. The most challenging part was getting a replacement for a scratched center trim bezel for the steering wheel. I called three times, each time I was told they would send me a replacement, which never arrived, the third time I was told I needed to email them pictures to prove it was scratched, but before I took the picture, the replacement showed up. Overall, I didn't have a beef with FFR, they manage to correctly send 10000 parts, I only had problems with a few of them.

There's no one answer on the duration. Depends on what parts are backordered. My current build was picked up first week of August, and it was almost 5 months until I had the last of the parts. But those were Wilwood parts and not 100% FF's fault. I had nearly two pages of backordered parts when I picked it up, which surprised me a bit, plus a few more after I completed the inventory. I was one of the early customer deliveries for the 2015 IRS, and quite a few of the shortages were related to that. I agree to call them probably once a week. For backorders you'll probably be dealing with Jay, unless something has changed recently. Deal in specifics and keep it pleasant and professional. I agree that usually gets better results.

I appreciate that this is a serious discussion but on a lighter side it took that long for my kit to reach Australia (and then be impounded by Customs) that all my back ordered parts had arrived before the car was delivered.

I was missing about 15 parts but one was the shocks, the other is the gauges so I'm kind of stopped now the others are minor, ignition switch,e-brake parts. I guess I'll get geared up on the 390 FE. Speaking of that do I need a special oil pan?

Don't feel bad about bugging them. They are a business and you paid a lot of money upfront for their product. They have a responsibility to deliver to you. Just be polite and respectful and a periodic inquiry should be no problem.

I email my list of missing stuff after I do inventory to the tech I ordered the kit from. Courtnie then gave me a time table for the parts to come off of back order. I just work around the schedule. They have always come through and are at the mercy of their suppliers a lot of the time. As others have said be polite and patience is needed on the build as well as waiting on parts. JM2CW.

I would give them a call, write down their name and deal that one person on this particular subject. FFR customer service seems to to be pretty good.

It was right at 5 months on my backordered parts too. There were also several parts that were duplicated or were not correct which had to be sorted out. They could really improve their margins if they were a profit focused/supply chain oriented company. Luckily for us they mainly focus on cool cars and people like us!

I called every couple of weeks just to get an update so I could plan the build. In the beginning, they seemed to send packages right after my calls so they probably held some shipments to get more in each shipment. Towards the end, they would ship it as soon as they got it.

Is there a lot of a difference between the ffr ignition switch vs a ignitions switch from o riely

A little off topic. But functionally most ignition switches are the same, including the markings. Always good to check though. The FF switch has a nice finished bezel nut on the front plus has an FF branded key. Builders choice I guess. Not the best pic (and also shows I need a little Spring clean-up) but this is what they look like: (click for larger view)
