Need a location to mount EFI relays and fuses. I realize every build is different but I'm wanting to verify that there isn't something that generally/typically goes in the location circled below. Location is behind the dash and between the heater box and the wiring harness firewall pass-thru. Please let me know if I'm about to put something in a space I'll need when the body/windshield/etc. gets mounted later. Thanks much!

Check edwardb's build thread; he's outlined where he put his.

Yea, I hung them off the sides of the center dash support. They're accessible plus in the path of the wiring. I've done them there before and works well if you have the room and install the dash with a center support like that.

Where you are suggesting is also a relatively open area, with the exception of the wiper bolts and wires coming through the firewall in that general area. But you could probably adjust as the wiper location is somewhat flexible. Assuming you're even installing wipers. My main question about the suggested area would be if it's reasonably accessible. Relays are a potential service item.

Planning to use defrosters with that heater? If so you'll have a hose coming off of the top port of the heater box in that area which will then have to join up with the defroster boot on the cowl. It gets pretty crowded.

No heater box for me to deal with so I can not say this will work for you but it may give you some ideas.

Thanks for the comments, suggestions, and photos. Remarkably clean looking install, CDXXVII.

Not planning to run wipers, but by the time the heater ducting is installed the area I was considering is crowded nonetheless. And it's true that accessibility in this area will be poor once the dash is on. So I ended up with what you see below.

Decided to use a Mike Everson under-dash panel along with the addition of a hinge (last photo - just visible under the coil of wire). The hinge allows the panel to be rotated down and away from the dash so that the dash assembly can be accessed/removed if the need arises. With this modification I can mount the relays to the panel but still have access to both the relays and the back of the dash. When I get around to mounting the dash I'll do so with angle brackets/nutserts as many of you have suggested.

Regards,

-Karl
