Gents,
Has anyone seen this before? Any ideas would be appreciated...

Looks like a major exhaust restriction

Yes, cam timing, then ignition, last fuel mix. But unhook the mufflers first. Gordon may have the simple fix nailed. Remember that to get that hot the air is still moving but the fuel is burning late. Cam timing.

My memory is exhaust valve opening early (advanced) or ignition really late (retarded). Haven't had this one in a long time and I suffer from CRS...

Or try turning off the nitrous bottle at idle...

If not restricted exhaust then severely retarded ignition timing.

The reason I beleive a restriction is the header itself isn't that hot. It is was that plug wire laying close to it would have melted by now. Retarded timing the headers would be red next to the head not after the collector. The down pipe is the thinnest there specifically since there is a bend just after it. I would look at thing like the mufflers backwards or something like that.

Ok , is it just on the drivers side? Or is this a ford with the firing order swapped incorrectly and only one cylinder is blowing raw fuel and the carburation point is past the collector where more oxygen is available from the other 3 correctly firing cylinders? Is the neighbors cat accounted for? Has the dog got both his tennis balls in the yard? Does it sound funny? Is a cylinder misfiring? Is it port EFI or carb? Let us know when you conquer it.

Gents,
Thanks for all the input. I gave minimum input as to get the widest range of answers to look at! My "Googleresearch" pointed to retarded timing, but ill definitely pull off the mufflers first....

Gents,
A quick 15 minutes with my timing light solved he issue. Ignition was retarded quite a bit. Distributor lock was a bit loose so I assume it may have slipped en-route from the builder during shipping. Things tend to be easier to fix when you know the root cause, so thanks all for the advice....

Glad it was the simplest fix.
