Hey guys,

I'm in the market for a new, greasier hobby and the 818C has really caught my attention. I still want to do my due-diligence before embarking on a ~$25k (renting garage space in SF is expensive), 18-month project, so...

I'd like to know if anyone in my area is building an 818C or 818S, and if they'd let me ride along as passenger one day to see what this car feels like. I'm happy to throw in some gasoline/greenbacks and of course brews for their time, too.

I can also come visit if they're within 100 miles, any takers?

Hope to see an 818 in the metal, what a beaut!

I'm a few months into building 818S #332 in San Jose. Not even close to Steve's progress (he's about 5 miles from me). He might give you a test ride, but I'm limited to pretend drives... You're welcome to stop by.

Check out the Google Maps registry; there are a couple others in the Bay Area:

And remember, with projects like this, double (or at least add 50% to) your original budget and schedule. ;)

Ahh this is great guys, thanks! I'll get in touch with you Bay Area folks directly.

And thanks for the sage advice, I'll clip some more coupons.

Feel free to PM me, happy to give you a tour. The coolant system is currently apart so the car is motionless until I get all the leaks fixed. I'm on the road a lot for work, but anytime I'm around is good.
