I want to use stainless self tappers to fix body to chassis under seals, but can't find in the manual what size screws to use. Are they the same size as the ones that held the aluminum panels on from factory?

I know I have seen it, as I know its secured under door sills, so maybe someone can put me out of my misery and tell me what page its on!!

I don't know that the manual actually says. I use 1/4" with 1" fender washers and rubber washers.

Don't forget to slot the body so you can pull it in and out to help alignment w/ the doors.

I believe the manual says to rivet the body to the frame under the sills. I followed the Jeff's advice and used 1/4 inch stainless steel button heads and 1/4 fender washers. I got the body in position and drilled through both the body and frame with 13/64 bit. I then enlarged the holes in the body to 5/16 (put a piece of flat stock between the body and frame so the drill bit doesn't catch in the hole in the frame and accidentally enlarge it). The holes in the frame were tapped 1/4-20 for the button heads. When I had the body off again I slotted the holes slightly to allow for final body fitting. As a side note, I noticed the body would change shape slightly when off the frame and would have to sit on the frame for a day or so before the holes would all line up again. Don't know if this is common or not. Maybe my body buck was off a little ( I followed the instructions for building it exactly) or the fact that it was stored outside and got a fair amount of sun was the cause.

Good Luck
Norm

I installed 1/4" rivet nuts under the doors where the body wraps over. They are pretty sturdy and allow you to use a machine threads instead of a self tappers. I also used #10 rivet nuts for other things like the dash and access planels.
