Well, I've always admired the factory five cars. The 818 was more of my 'speed' but I wanted a closed top. Then the 818C arrived. But the donor car... where do you find a worthwhile donor car?

I found one in MY DRIVEWAY. We got hit by Softball/cantaloupe sized hail last night and my beautiful 2006 WRX wagon with 80k looks like a baseball team took batting practice on it. Windows, roof, hood won't open, mirrors missing, I mean this thing is totaled.

This happened like 18 hours ago. So last night, after tarping the roof holes and tarping the 9 broken windows I decided I'd finally register for the Factory Five forums.

Life gives you lemons... use them as garnish on a vodka tonic! I can't think of anything else to do with the car.

My name is Forrest, and I'm in Wylie, TX. I'm going to be busy for a few weeks getting the house repaired... but I'll be around.

Welcome to the forum. I have heard many stories on getting a donor, but this one is probably one of the best.

Forrest-

I am so sorry to hear of your excellent luck! Seriously, I hope the repair of your home goes smoothly, and you can get back to normal fairly quickly. Hopefully Mother Nature is done with you all for now.

But, awesome news for your build plans. Sounds like you have a great donor, and perhaps most importantly, you know of its service history.

Good luck getting your build plan together, and getting an order in for the awesome 818.

All the best!

Regards,

Steve

Welcome Forrest,

I live right up the road in Parker and we 'only' got hit with lemon sized hail. Crazy storm yesterday!
I'm building a Roadster but I saw the Factory Five 818 at the Texas Cobra Club Meet in San Marcos a couple of weeks ago and it looks even better up close.
Good luck with the cleanup and I'll be following your progress to see if I can help with anything (you accumulate a lot of random/specific tools during the build process).
