Received my MK4 complete kit 30 days ago and I have been very busy, I am ready to go-cart but I have to wait on backordered parts especially the oil filter relocater. Any way I'm not much for typing so I'll post some pictures. tomorrow..........;);););););)

Forget the relocator and get the 90 degree adapter. A much nicer piece and less clutter under the hood. My relocator
went to the recycler!
Just my take, Sten

That's some pretty good progress! Good for you.

Where are you located?

Will be awesome to see those pictures; I look forward to it!

Can you just screw a filter to the block even if only for a temporary solution? Also can you put your location under your name and car details in your signature line please. My answer may not apply depending what engine you are using.

You didn't say but if you are using the 4 into 4 headers the relocator isn't used. It's only necessary with shorties and J-pipes/cats.

I'm an aircraft mechanic by trade so this stuff is really not that hard for me just time consuming, My wife is awesome, She even helped me stuff the engine in last weekend. She doesn't say much about me working on the car, to her its better than watching TV or being on the computer all day, plus I'm a lot happier when I'm busy.

I'm a trim carpenter by trade, and have worked in cars since I was 15,so like you it hasn't been to hard. I just have trouble deciding how and where to route things lol

Sitting here waiting on parts and thinking about paint and body work, I read about people paying $10.000 for a paint job. Are they crazy or just have money to burn? I under stand its not cheap for a good quality job, I estimate that with my little bit of prep work am looking at 3 to 4,000 for a really nice job. Just curious what other people are paying and why?

This is talked about a ton. $10K (or more) is at the high end, but people paying that are neither crazy or burning money. It's what it can cost, depending on many factors. There's roughly 150 hours of work involved in finishing one of these, plus materials at a minimum of $1.5 - $2K. You can do the math. There are options to make it cheaper, including some or all DIY, but pretty unlikely you'll find someone to do the job for what you're expecting. Here's a recent thread on the subject: http://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthread.php?17888-Cost-of-Painting-a-Roadster. There are lots more on both forums.

I don't know how someone can charge that much for paint? I have pulled a truck down sanded to bare metal, primed and painted three stage pearl, and didn't come close to 3k

So that means that if you were doing it for someone other than yourself your labor is worth $0?
