Good Morning,

I just installed mine on my Mk3 last weekend. I used a couple of 1" aluminum pieces to recess the box. I used self drill/tap screws to hold the brackets in place and also to hold the box to the brackets. Hope this helps.
Dave

I started with the tabs at the top of the brackets, but then cut off during mock up. They weren't needed.

One thing for sure. When the Batt. needs changing (if it's mounted by the rear axle) it will be one pain .Even with my Kwik-Lift it will be a job.

I am going to mount the box as per the manual for now but it's not clear, I have J hooks no nuts and the hooks do not fit into the battery hold down

It's not so bad. Remote battery terminals sell for about $20.
