Nope, none here. Kit cars and open roadsters are pretty much illegal in Colorado. ;)

Bob:

Sorry but that's not true. I checked with motor vehicle prior to making the decision. They gave me a packet of things I will need to license the vehicle and obtain title. Here are some websites to verify. I hope this doesn't discourage others from building a car, because it is possible, just have to follow the steps to get it licensed. There is one Cobra that I know of in Fort Collins, where I live. I've seen many others at the car show held yearly in Steamboat Springs.

Welcome Ruddy,

Bob was just kidding (notice smiling). I meet Bob once at a Mile High Cobra club meeting, and I believe he has a FFR roadster. I have a MKIV that I am building in Lakewood (just starting), and I have a friend just finishing a MKIII in Greeley and another friend with a MKIV in the go kart stage in Monument. The Mile Cobra Club meeting that I attended had at least 8 FFR folks there if not more.

Just pullin' your chain, Ruddy. :)

There's lots of folks around here afflicted with this disease - must be the high altitude. We're reasonable active, and get together pretty often. Colorado is one of the best places on the planet to drive a Cobra. Or pretty much any sports car, for that matter. Once you get away from I-25, the roads are just spectacular. And if you live outside of the Denver area, it's pretty easy to get a car registered here, too. Relatively speaking anyway.

You should consider joining the Mile Hi Cobra Club. We have a lot of members who joined long before their cars were finished. Good place for info, guidance, and friendship. www.milehicobraclub.com

Hi Don...

Good to hear there are others building the MKIV. I'd be interested in visiting with others that are going thru the process. I'm in Ft. Collins and Greeley is close as are the other locations you mentioned. I'll check out the Mile Hi Cobra Club. How often and where do they meet?

Hi Colorado builders....

Does anyone know if Cat Converters are required on Cobra Kits in Colorado?

Thank you in advance.

We have one meeting a year, usually some time in Jan or Feb. The rest of the time we sort of meet sporadically for a Sunday drive or something fun. We just got back from a nice club drive and lunch. We also do some week end trips, and Cruise Colorado is a week long drive event. Check out the web site for more info. Once you join, you'll be on the e-mail list for events and stuff.

No. As long as the car is titled as a Kit Car, you don't need a smog check.

Rudy, PM refers to a Private Message.

In the extreme upper right hand corner of all the pages in the forum, there is a line that says;

"Welcome, Rudy On Duty..........Notifications.......My Profile.......Settings..........Log Out"

Click on the word Notifications, and a drop down box will give you a link to your private messages.

I have also sent you an email with the same information.

Derald.
