I have been approached by a company that would like to provide pre-engineered all electric drive lines for the Factory Five Cars.

I specified that they would need to be engineered to the point that they are bolt in and plug in with no real in depth electrical knowledge required.

My question to one and all is - hypothetically speaking - if such a driveline were available would you be interested in it?

Price target is in the same range as you would expect to pay for a good old fashioned internal combustion drive line. Power and range are targeted to be what one would expect from a car with the looks of any of the FFR offerings.

Let me know your thoughts.

I like the idea...but it is going to be expensive, heavy, and probably only targeted for a few people.

my second but, I think it is an innovative idea, and the tesla roadster needs kit car competition (or any competition for that matter) so let's see what you've got!

Seems like a pretty bad business idea to me - you're already in a cottage industry, and now you're going to make a cottage industry within a cottage industry (I'm sure there's a term for that, just don't know it). As a small hobby sure, why not, but as a business?

I have to admit, I dream of owning an all electric Roadster. I think pulling onto the track with an electric car would just be awesome. Can you inagine running dow the back stretch at 140mph, with nothing but wind and tire noise? That would just be great.

But, would I ever build one? No, never. Lots of reasons for it, but I never will. It's a just whimsical fantasy; a wouldn't-it-be-cool kind of thing.

Guess iam old school. The sound of V8 and smell of fuel will always dominate the silence and smell of nothing. But for those tht eco minded, it might work out , but for the most part the removal of the side exhaust go cart sound will detract from most going that way. Very limited base to start a venture like that.
