A couple questions on the rear harness. The picture below is from Edwardb's 7750 build thread.

1. I want to go ahead and put the connectors on the vehicle-side harness. It looks like from the photo that the harness extends about 3 or 4 inches beyond the sheetmetal. Is that about right? I could test fit the body but it's far easier to ask instead :)

2. What's the thinking on the extra ground? Is it just a case of 'you can never have too many', or is it there to address a specific problem? I assume the ground wire that runs back through the main harness is still being used, and that the extra ground is simply an extra piece of wire that's been spliced in and attached to the chassis. Do I have that right?

3-4 inches is perfect. Can never have too many grounds.

Hey, I recognize that picture! Yes, those are 3-4 inches. But I did establish the length by installing the body and after installing the connectors on the light fixtures.

No known problems, but the RF harness only has a couple ground connections, which I always thought was a little light. Saw the idea to add an additional ground connection at each corner on the Mk4build.com build site, and thought it was a good idea. I've seen several other builds do the same thing. I'll be doing the same thing on my current build.

What Mike and ebwardb said. I always add an additional ground for lighting at all 4 corners. The extra few minutes could save a bunch of headaches later.

All right, guys - I'm convinced. I see a few extra grounds in my future.

The value of a well-documented build thread like yours. I can realize the benefit of your experience and save myself the time and trouble of taking the body off the buck to do a fit check. Can't thank you enough!!

Cool! You're certainly welcome. About to get #7750 out of winter hibernation. Can't wait for the driving season to get started again.
