Good morning I last built a mk3 in 2004. Couple of questions. Considering running power steering and I'd did not run it last time???? Still a 87-93 ps mustang rack?????? Also how r most people painting the Cobras now. Can the hood, trunk and doors b trimmed up and paint off a body buck while I do the build??? Thank u for all the help. Also what insurance co should I look at for insurance too? Thank u all!

Welcome to the forum. Yes to the 87-93 rack for power steering. There are maybe other choices, but that one works. I've done it twice. The body is (arguably...) better than your previous Mk3, but you still want to fit it up to the chassis before painting. Don't know where you're located, but insurance depends on a number of things. You may want to check with your current agent first. Midwest Classic is a forum vendor and writes policies for many states. That's what I use. Good luck!

Congrats for jumping back in on your second build. Paul answered with same response as I would have. I just had my MK IV painted a few weeks ago by a shop that has painted 1,2,3 and now my MK IV. they were very pleased with the upgraded molds and said it will cut down on labor and price to the customer.

Sounds great everyone and thank u! Another quick question I'm installing a brand new 2014 mustang gt coyote motor, will that power steering pump connect to the 87-93 p s rack? Also any average paint cost out there to paint these bodies in Maine n h or mass? Thanks all!

First, Ford doesn't sell a Mustang with factory engine driven power steering. They're all electric. So any engine driven power steering pump setup is going to be from the aftermarket, and yes they will work with the 87-93 rack. Rather than repeat it here, check my #8674 build thread (link below in sig line) where I discussed power steering options for the Coyote and also showed what I decided. That should get you started. BTW, "new" 2014 Mustang GT Coyote motor? What does that mean? Do you already have it? Is it a crate motor or out of Mustang? If you don't already have it, the only crate motors available now are the 2015-2016 version. Some changes and slightly more power (that's good...) but the crate controls pack has a lot of changes. This is also discussed in my build thread.

Paint is all over the place. How about this for starters: http://www.ffcars.com/forums/17-factory-five-roadsters/553826-cost-paint-job.html

Thank u for all the info. When I built my mk3 I was really nervous of the fi so I carb in stead. I bought my 14 coyote motor with 3 mi on the car (mustang gt) and the car required a Yates/roush motor for what circuit they were running. So thank u on the power steering I'm green on some particulars. I already have my control pack too! Thank u again
