View Full Version : Breeze roll bar really tight

My breeze roll bar doesn't slide down nicely over the two struts on the chassis. I stupidly tried opening up the roll bar slightly (need about 1 or 2mm) but SS doesn't bend easily! With a dead blow hammer it will slide all the way down but I would ideally like it to be easily removed to test fit etc.
I tried hammering the chassis struts to increase the distance between them but they ain't gonna move!
Any ideas?

Are they too wide or too narrow? Mine where a bit too narrow. I solved it by using my floor jack and putting one leg under it and the other on top of the pad. I then pumped up the jack to spread them. Be careful as the first bit of movement is elastic and will just spring back so it is hard to tell when you have actually spread the bar. Sneak up on it and trial fit as often as necessary. If it is too wide I don't know what to do as it would probably need a press. In the end mine just about fall onto the mounts. Much better.

Yep, that's kinda how they are because with the additional stubs you're trying to engage a lot of moving parts at once. Paul explained how to spread the hoop; if it's too wide draw it in with a ratchet strap.
Good luck,

I found that almost all the roll bars out there are not parallel. They usually are spread a little so a ratchet strap (a beefy one) will pull the legs together. Pull together with a ratchet strap and whack it right at the start of the curve with a big dead blow hammer before you release the strap. Once you get the two legs parallel, you can massage the stubs with a long piece of pipe. I have a handle for a formula car jack that fits right inside the stubs. They move quite easily. If you get everything right, the roll bars will slide on and off with one hand and no tools.

Thanks guys. Yes they are slightly too narrow. Hadn't thought of using a floor jack! Do I need to make a circular piece so the jack doesn't make it oval? Or is the SS strong enough that that won't happen?
