Dash design

I finally cut out the face of the dash for easy access to all the work that needs done back there. I will make L&R plates from 1/8" AL to mount the gauges in.
I'm looking for suggestions for gauges that will cluster behind the wheel because I don't care for them spread all across the cockpit. I also want a speedo that
is marked to 180 or more and a lot of them seem to stop at 140 now. Help me spend some money and find just the right cluster for mine. Here's the blank slate.

Sounds like Speedhut may be your answer. They do custom electronic gauges and may be shallow enough to mount behind the steering wheel without interfering with the brake valves.

Thanks for the link, that looks like it might be the best set-up for mine.
I like the white face gauges because they are easier to read for an old fart. One of the other things I have been considering is to space out the dash front IF I need the extra depth for gauges.

I installed the vintage air unit behind the dash today. Working through the big hole in the dash was a breeze, I can't imagine trying to do it any other way.

I shortened the top bracket, then bent the last inch of it over 90* to lay on top of the top firewall tube. The one on the blower housing got bent 90* as well
to rest over that angled tube. Both brackets got new holes punched in them with a Whitney punch so the new holes were properly centered on each tube.

I leveled the unit then marked and drilled the firewall tubes and installed 1/4 20 rivnuts for the two housing brackets. Then I cut off a couple bolt heads and
installed the studs in those rivnuts and bottomed them out against the back of the tubes leaving 1/2" projection. Hanging the unit on those two studs was easy
and I will double nut them when I know it's there to stay. I did leave the studs a bit long in case something else needs a mounting point under there later. They
might even make good grounding points if I need them for that as well. I didn't find a good method for bracing the bottom of the unit though so any suggestions
for that are appreciated, it seems like the bottom could swing in and out maybe even thumping the firewall at times.

I had to set mine more to the center so I can get to the bolts for the roll-cage later but that also lets me have a smoother path for the heat and AC hoses.

I used the FFR Autometer gauges and I have a hydraulic clutch ... It all fits, pretty tight but it works
