All,
I'm sure I'm not the first to ask but I have searched the threads and can not find a reference. help please.

I want to replace the "double dip" stock oil pan that comes on the 5.0 with a standard single dip pan. No need for the double dip on the FFR since there is no cross member there. Any suggestions where to source one? And a sending unit too.

Replace it if you want, but the double sump isn't hurting anything. The front sump is required in all cases because of the oil pump. Since the majority of the market out there is for Mustangs that need the clearance, most are going to be that way. Look for any pans for your engine that are no deeper than 7.5 inches. Lots of choices. Assume you mean pickup, not sending unit.

Right pickup. so I guess it isn't recommended. Thanks for the reply. Just looks strange when there is no cross member. Looks like the engine is not designed for the he frame.

Didn't say not recommended, just not necessary and that many you find will be that way just because of the market. Do what you want though!

Thanks. Was hoping to make my engine more 289 like with an older style oil pan and didn't know where to look. Summit I'd guess but wondered if anyone else had talked able it.

May not find what you're looking for on Summit. The originals had Aviaid pans. Still available. Scroll down on this page: http://aviaid.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/ws_oilpns_sbf-ss2.html. At $500, not inexpensive. There are tons of threads on the other forum (FFCars.com) about oil pans. My best suggestion would be to search over there.

Hi Andy,

If you do lean toward spending the extra for a different pan, I suggest you go to one that will have a real benefit like one with more oil volume and baffles. I saw one on Breezes website that would have a shallow enough pan. The 7 or 7.5 inch reference is due to the limitation dictated by the 4 inch frame tubes. Most people don't want anything hanging lower than that. It's inviting disaster especially with an expensive engine.

Good luck,

WEK.
