For the information of Quebec Cobra owners and builders: after a less than enthusiastic response from my current insurance company (which does insure my '68 Lotus Elan), I was told to check with Gilman Fils Inc in Bedford by a friend who owns a muscle car. Gilman was enthusiastic about ensuring my Cobra, has insured other Cobras and hotrods, and gave me "all perils" coverage. Their phone number is 450-248-3341 in Bedford and 450-562-3737 at another office in Lachute. The insurance is with L'Unique in Quebec City.
Gilman needed a market value appraisal of the car by "Expert Evaluation C.A.R.S." and this was done very quickly by the appraiser Marcel Duchaine, who seems to do considerable work for Gilman.
