Greetings from Australia

Sorry if this has been covered before but iam curious as to why the 818 is not recommended to use the sti version engine vs the normal turbo 2.5L
Any help much appreciated

Thank you Andrew

The STI engine is fine, it's the hubs, axles and spindles that is the problem

And transmission. All of these things can be overcome but will require extra work and parts. It's been done several times and lots of good info on here in the build threads.

STis are also more rare, making them more of a perk if you want to spent the time and money. Wrecked STis are still expensive and I can spend the difference on the WRX and have a better result.

really the sti is almost a diffrent platform the driveline, suspension, motor trans all different. Requires money and time to make it swap everything into an 818 thats why they say on thier page it's not recommended. I'm sure they still get plenty of phones calls and request for support for them, if you get any consider it a blessing because they shouldn't need to since they recommend against it
