I was hoping everyone here can weigh in on a front accessory drive setup for Alternator & Power Steering on a 302 SBF. Please post your pictures of your setup.

I currently have a Ford Explorer setup, which appears to clear everything, however it about as ugly as dog barf (I have three dogs, so I have seen plenty)!

This is what I have, I don't want to spend $1000 on custom billet stuff, but i was hoping for a little better looking setup.

For simple Alt & PS brackets, I bought March alternator bracket (from JEgs) and CFR Performance Power Steering Bracket.

Best bet is to switch to mustang stuff. Ford Racing used to have a kit to convert a Explorer 302 to a mustang 302. It came with a new oil pan, timing cover, water pump and balancer. Then use a kit from March or elsewhere

I don't have power steering - just driving the alternator and water pump on my old-school engine. I did need to move things around a bit, so I made my own upper bracket out of 3/16" aluminum plate and then used a Ford OEM lower alternator bracket from a '68 Mustang (just cut it down a little and re-bent it to fit my application). Final touch was a coating of some "cast" gray spraypaint.

Don't know how much you are looking to change but, here is my setup. V belt pulleys and alternator bracket from CVF racing. Modified 87 power steering pump mount and a home made bracket. Water pump is an Edelbrock from Summit Racing. Here is a link http://www.cvfracing.com/Ford-302-V-Belt-Pulley-System-p/302-ps-system.htm. Not bad for $368.00. I wasn't sure the power steering pump would clear the steering shaft with their bracket so I made my own.

Good Luck

CFR Performance. They look good and very cost effective. $345.00 and they actually fit. I had to add 1 washer to make everything perfect.

They get them in batches, so the web site is almost always "out of stock". I think I only had to wait a couple weeks.

What Avalanche said. I've used them on 3 builds. Good quality, better price.

I used the CFR kit a well. It was anything but bolt in but I did manage to get all of the pulleys lined up. Thank God for Dan Ziol and his machine shop. He made me all new custom length spacers. No more shredding belts. The brackets were fine, just the spacers sucked.

Here is my set-up once I got the right size belt. Think it was 667 but can check if you need it. Long run on top but runs well.

This is an old thread, but this CFR bracket kit seems really nice for the price! Does anyone know, or has anyone tried using it on a 351w?

The alternator bracket is from Speed Doctor Racing Components (find them on facebook) and is really nice. The alternator bracket, I think, is CFR.

Old thread, but I'll chime in with a picture of the March setup that BluePrint used on my engine.

Jacob, I love this setup. I am doing the same thing on my 408. One question though. It looks like we have the same alternator. The threaded mount on the bottom of alternator that connects to the tensioner, It looks like you used a metric bolt there instead of the grade 8 stuff from Speed Doctor. Is that correct?

I mocked that same thing up last night, but the diameter of that metric bolt is pretty sloppy on the heim. Curious what your experience was?

Talk to Mark at Breeze, he has a nice set up i used on my 408w, On mine I swapped sides with the alternator and power steering to prevent interference with the steering shaft. I will try to find some pics.

here you go

I'll take a look at it tonight and see what I did there. It sure does look like a metric bolt. The alternator came from Breeze, but I don't remember any slop between the bolt and the rod end supplied by Speed Doctor, and I'm pretty good about catching stuff like that. I'll report back tomorrow or this evening.

This is one that we just finished in the shop. Also have a bracket without the A/C pump. 120371

I pulled the bolt and it is indeed metric. There was a sleeve inside the rod end to take up the space between the bolt and the larger rod end. I don't recall whether the sleeve came from Breeze or Speed Doctor; I am almost certain that I didn't make it myself.

That’s actually good news. My first instinct was to find a bushing to take up the slop. Thanks so much for checking that. Now I know I’m on track! Love the coupe, looks well thought out.
