Cooling system expansion tank (old school)

I'm using this tank on my 289 build

This arrangement has the coolant flowing from the thermostat housing, through the tank, and into the top of the radiator. Should I consider adding additional expansion space to make up for the lack of space that would have been in the top tank of the old radiator?

I have a similar tank on mine (also an old Ford OEM piece) and it has a divider plate in the middle. I fill that until the coolant is even with that divider, which allows for expansion.
