Just got back from a road trip to NC/TN/GA. Rode with four other guys on their motorcycles. Started in Manassas, VA to Franklin, NC the first day with a stop at the D-Day Memorial in Bedford, VA (very cool!). The second day we rode the lower part of Moonshiner 28 to Toccoa, GA to check out the "Band of Brothers" museum, then back to Franklin. The third day we rode the upper part of Moonshiner up to the beginning of the Dragon, on the way back I lost my rain virginity. It rained SO hard and I got so wet, I was wishing I had wipers on the inside of the windshield too. The fourth day we rode the Tail of the Dragon which was completely awesome! I had to pass 6 other slower vehicles, but in between those I was able to really push it. The new Kuhmo Ecsta XS's were amazing, I couldn't have driven as fast or as confidently with the Sumitomos. The last 3 miles I was stuck behind an original Cobra and an inconsiderate Harley rider in front of us. The Cobra looked like a street 289 version. If I was going to be stuck behind another car, being stuck behind an original Cobra was ok. I thought that was cool, but at the very end of the run we turned a corner where 16 other original Cobras were parked. Totally cool, they greeted me warmly and complimented my FFR.
Altogether we drove 1743 miles and I went through 99.7 gallons of gas. Huge fun!
