Does anyone think there might be a reasonable (and worthwhile) way of making a set of bolt on side impact frames that would bolt-in and be swap-able with street doors? It wouldnt be as solid as the welded up frame used on the 818R, but wouldnt it be better than the street doors?

Just thinking out loud. My 818S isnt even a go cart yet, so I am getting WAY ahead of myself!

I was looking at the AMS alpha gtr at PRI a while back. They had a roll cage with a door bar on a spring loaded sleeve. It added a decent amount of side protection without making it terrible to open the door all the time. I haven't figured out how to integrate it but wanted something like that just for the street.

Add a tubing structure in the side to side dimension inside the door would make a big difference in stiffness

My 2005 Legacy has a pin on the rear doors that interlocks with the frame. It seems to be still in use on 2015 Outbacks. I haven't noticed something like that on any other car. If you were to beef up the door frame, maybe something like this could add some reinforcement to the hinges and latch in a side impact.
