I have a friend who purchased a set of the FFR 15" Halibrand replica wheels for use on his '66 Mustang. The wheels look great, but he's thinking of not using the knock-off center and instead going with some type of standard press-in center cap. Unfortunately, most of those he's found on-line or in catalogs don't reference size, but rather application. Since these are unique, he's looking for advice on what others may have done.

Have any of you done this and, if so, what did you use or what production application would work - i.e., Magnum 500, Ford steel mags, GM, Chrysler, etc....

Mine is a replica of a race car with Halibrands. I left the caps off. It looks more racer like.

Yes, I suppose that is one alternative... if he weren't interested in finding center caps that would fit.

Any idea what diameter hole they need to fit in to? Is it the same size as original Hailibrands? Halibrand's Cobra III model wheels came with a plain center caps. Perhaps they can be purchased separately? They used to be available through Discount tire.

He can have mine for the freight.
Mine fit approximately 1-13/16 hole.

Nut,

Are you talking about just some flat center caps or the threaded FFR version with the knock-offs? He has the knock-off stuff, but is looking for more of a standard flat type center cap.

Thanks!

Yep, Basically flat center covers. Held in with an O-ring.
