I am interested in buying a unbuilt Mark 3 made for the ford mod motor, My question is will it be a huge undertaking to put a new Coyote motor in instead?

Thanks in advance Rich.

The front chassis area, motor mounts, etc. that affect what motor is used are essential unchanged from a Mk3 and Mk4. The main difference though is the footboxes. Until the very recent changes/upgrades that FF has made to the Mk4, the sheet metal even for a Mk4 took rework or custom parts to make the Coyote fit acceptable. Yes it fit previously, but the reduction mainly in foot space for the driver was unacceptable IMO. Now that's officially improved directly from the factory. But for anything older than just a few months, it would need to be addressed whether a Mk3 or a Mk4. But that leads to my real question. Why looking for a Mk3? They stopped making them now 4-5 years ago (as I recall...) and there are so many improvements to the Mk4, it's worth trying to find one. I'm sure there are still some unfinished Mk3's out there, but can't be all that many. Better to find an unfinished Mk4 is that's what you're really looking for. I assume your motivation is to save some money over a new factory build. It's possible for sure (I've done it myself) but be prepared to wait for the right deal, accept whatever build decisions and work was completed, and location which could be a long distance.
