Could use some help. Have all the outside bolts (3) on each side on the tranny out, have the seal broken all the way around. Still can't get the transmission separated. Seems like something is holding the shaft on. What am I forgetting?

There are 4 bolts in the back that have to come out. Step 4 in the diagram below.

EDIT
Sorry,
I thought you were trying to split the transmission.

There are alignment pins for the transmission. They are known to corrode and lock everything together. Some penetrating lube and some heat should do the trick.
If thats not what you were referring to, do you have the clutch fork pin removed? It needs to be removed prior to separation

Edit, never mind. Re read post. I'm pretty sure my hybrid engine to 5 speed has 8 bolts. 2 through the starter and 6 others. Then 2 alignment pins.

I was going to mention that earlier but you said EJ257 and I thought only the early WRX had the clutch fork pin? My 2007 doesn't have it. Remove the engine mounting bolts and the engine just comes right out.

It was the clutch fork pin...completely forgot. Thanks
