Can you guys share some tips on moving the firewall forward?
How far can I go?
What else needs to be modded to move it?
Any tips or tricks?

FFMetal used to sell one that moved the firewall forward 1-1/2" - no problems.

From what I've heard FFMetal no longer offers the firewall forward kit.

Correct. It's no longer on their website, and I've also heard it's no longer available.
To the OP's question: There is roughly 6 inches from the stock firewall location to the hood opening. Probably the most the firewall could be moved forward is 1-1/2 inches or so less than that, taking into account the flange around the hood opening. Other influences would be what engine you're using and how much space there is behind it. Also whether you're planning wipers or not come into play, since they're in that same area under the cowl. Is there a particular reason you want to move the firewall forward?

Yes, so I could have more room under dash for heater or ac.

I figured that. Have you searched the other forum? A number of threads on this topic. Here are several with a lot of info and pictures:

I cut a new firewall from heavier aluminum and moved mine forward 1 1/2".
I put an aluminum strip across the top of the cross tube, extending forward 1 1/2" and rearward extended 3/4". I riveted an aluminum angle to the front piece with 5 riv-nuts across the front for the firewall to attach to and several across the back overhang for a full under dash panel. I installed a complete vintage air heater (everything!) behind the dash and a full glovebox with a fuse panel mounted to the back of the glovebox. It was tight, but managed to get it to all fit. And wipers on the front of the firewall.

I am also in process of moving my firewall forward about 2.25"... I am using 1/8 aluminum for some rigidity. I wanted to move it closer to the opening as per the originals as well as mount an oil puke tank.
