I am a new HR33 builder and have a Moser 3 link rear end. I now have it mocked up on the frame and I notice that the pinion is off center when the axel tubes are centered in the frame. (About 9/16 to 3/4 inch toward the passenger side.) Has anyone had a problem with this? Are any frame and tunnel modifications needed? (I have looked through a large number of build pictures, but cannot find a straight on shot that gives a clear answer.)
Thanks

Yes the pinion is slightly off center in the housing by design and no it doesn't matter, it will still clear the chassis tubes at proper ride height.
I would suggest that you don't "center" the axle housing by using the rear stub of the chassis because that part runs off center of the car by quite a bit. Several of us have established a true center line on the chassis by using the passenger compartment for a base line then using a laser line marked the whole frame end to end everywhere you have a tube that can get a center mark. The firewall forward part is fairly close to straight but that little short extension on the back runs off quite a bit. You should also put a 3/16" shim the full length of the pass side tube where the body sets on the chassis<>in the door opening area, because if you don't the cowl will not set level. If you look at pictures of finished 33's from the front a lot of them have the cowl low on the pass. side and the grille shell tipped to the drivers side at the top. That gives the car a WONKY look that is hard to figure out what's wrong but it does look disturbing once you know what to look for.
If you haven't already, go read a thread called dangerous curves ahead. Dan gives some good pointers on body work. Enjoy the build and welcome to the forum

Thanks for this information. I had established a center from about mid chassis back, but I will work it for the entire length and look again. I need to get this geometry correct for some wheel backspace choices.

I forgot to mention that the banana bracket has wadded up on several of the FF 3 links even without big powerplants
At a minimum do a search on both forums and beef up the bracket ahead of time. HTH

DB Hemi33,

Have there been failures mentioned of the banana bracket on the Moser rears which come with the bracket welded onto the right hand tube? It seems as though many of the failures have occurred with the bolt-on bracket from FF. Thanks for any info you may recall!

All the failures I recall were with the FF bracket, Not sure if any of the Mosers have failed.
I think Mathewp had one fail so you might PM him and see what brand his was and go look at the pics of HOW it failed to determine load directions.
