I posted this thread on the other forum, but thought I should post it here as well. I don't know how many people visit both places.
I think it's time for me to start this thread. I have my new 500hp 347 on the dyno right now. I will be testing several muffler configurations, even open headers to get as accurate numbers as I can. I'm starting with the FFR mufflers. I'll tune the engine and get base line numbers with them. Plan is to get decibel readings at idle and WOT and of course dyno results. Next I'll cut the mufflers off and get open header results. Then I'm building a set of mufflers with some really trick inserts that use noise canceling technology made by GGB mufflers in Canada. They shipped me a set to test. I know they cost no HP from past experience, but I don't know how loud they'll be. Finally I have a set of the Flowmaster 30" slimline mufflers on the way that I will test. I'll post all the results and get some videos also.
If anyone wants to include their mufflers in the test I'd love to do so. Anybody with a set of quiet pipes they'd like to test? Maybe Mark Reynolds would like to loan me a set to test? Classic mufflers? I'll be happy to do the work, just find a way to get them to me for a week or so.
