Two people already signed up for the april 2 event. filling up fast only 53 slots left(ok maybe not that fast) But signing up for an event does make summer seem just a little bit closer.

April weather can be varible, hopefully the snow will melt by then otherwise may be taking the F-250 instead of the cobra.

on how many last-minute filers I get, or should I truthfully say how quickly I get returns done ;) .
To be honest, unless the weather changes, neither the FFR or the Mustang is going to make it out of my bottom garage with all the snow. I have 12' high snowbanks that have to melt first.
My brother-in-law plows my driveway for free, so asking him to move the snowbanks and plow out the garage I don't use in the winter might be pushing it a bit...... ;)

I don't think I willl be ready for any of the April events.

Thanks Pat. now we just need to work on getting atleast 3 cars at each event. I need to let mark know that the motorsports reg site still doesn't list a FFR class when you register.
Steve Gogo

If there are only three, you are assured of at least a t-shirt. :) Speaking from experience competing in the Mustang street-tire class ;)

Its a good thing cause it's going to be a while before I can get close to a t-shirt in the evil street class

These guys don't what they are missing. We have to get them off the beach and into the water. Once they try it they'll understand how much fun it is. I've said it before, these cars were made for this. Regarding the classes, if I get to Mark first I'll let him know.

You certainly have that right just look how hooked we got JohnT. from a breakfast queen to a legit driver in a year's time. Once you go you're hooked and where else can you have that much fun all day for $55.

I WILL BEAT YOU GUYS THIS YEAR!!!
Just need more SEAT TIME.
Dont think I will be ready until April....
Alot of work going on...
OK coneheads the snow is nearly gone, the temps are up and the first autocross event is less than a month away. Registration for the Track Club USA events (first event 4/16) is being handled throught the club's web site this year. It's not quite as elegant as MotorsportReg but were saving enough money that we don't have to raise registration fees due the the increase from Devens. The events are posted on MSR but the Event Registration link will take you the link below. All we need is 3 FFRs to have our own class. I think the coupe will still be at the painters. BTW for you guys who wait for the weather report I've already been told it will be sunny in the 70s  Don't delay, sign up today and spread the word.

I just signed up for the first event. Hey pat is there any way to see who else is attending on your site?
Steve Gogo
03-13-2011, 07:53 PM
Well, I'm getting close. The snow has melted enough for me to get the Mustang to the road and take it for a quick ride with the new torque arm. If I don't have people with unfinished tax returns waiting on 4/4 maybe I can make it, but I doubt it.

The issue is some people don't like their name posted if their car is still under warranty. There have been stories of dealers searching the net if a car comes in with a suspicious problem.

Have them file extensions and tell them you're going racing. :D

I'm having issues with my car.
My plugs are full of carbon.
I thought it was just one plug but it was 7 out of eight.
Either a timing or fuel issues.
Still working on it....

looks like a good crowd for the day. Does anyone know if JimS from FFR is driving his challenge care or are we in for a suprise demo??
I know it is the same day as the open house but I still have openings for Sat. It looks like we already have three for the FFR class as my coupe will make it's first appearance this year. Still only in primer but intact after three days on track at VIR.
You can register here:

What better way to celebrate FFR open house than to drive our cars the way they were meant to be driven as opposed to stand around and eat burnt hotdogs.
Looking forward to the day and my first autox with powersteering.

My car is ready but I'm not! I'm having a re-do of last weeks cataract surgery tomorrow and am not going to drive my car in anger until I have both eyes working!
I just hope I didn't buy this SA2010 helmet for nothing!

Ok so it wasn't sunny and 72* today but it was still a good day at the autox. Some heavy rain some spitting but still came away with a fancy TCUSA t-shirt and won a $1 bet with GaryP for having the most spinouts. I had a total of 10 today a personal best.
Steve Gogo
06-12-2011, 08:23 AM
Ten spins, nice! Does the rain cool the pipes enough to not melt the cones to the sidepipes? I was under the Mustang scraping off melted cone remains from the h-pipe. I don't know how it got there......
John F
06-12-2011, 04:09 PM
John, I noticed in the video of you driving John G's car that you didn't spin once. Not enough HP? Probably your best time!
cobramd
06-13-2011, 08:30 AM
Haven't been spinning much in the dry. Wet with kuhmo's is a different story between lift and power oversteer the best i could do is genltly rest my foot near the go fast pedal and hope for the best. Getting use to powersteering and a really quick ratio rack just added icing on a very slick cake.
My car is still soaked after a day in the gararge.

I just found out they have autocrosses at Thompson Speedway. Not as long as Devens for sure, but looks like it would be fun. A 20 minute drive for me as well :) .

Try Mark again, Steve. It only shows 40 entries and the cutoff is 55.
Next autocross at Devens is Aug 6. As of this evening I still have some openings. You register at the Track Club USA website. Just remember it is a two step process
1 fill out the registration form
2. hit the "Add to Cart" link to pay
Register here
http://www.trackclubusa.com/devens.html
Register by midnight on Aug 1 and you will entered into the raffle for a OGIO backpack/cooler donated by Time Out Sportswear, a $60 value. It's great for track days, you can use the top section for gear and the bottom to keep drinks cold.
I still have openings for Saturday's autocross. There are at least 4 cars in the FFR class so bragging rights will be on the line. The weather is looking good. See the post above for the registration link. On line registration will be open until Thurs @ midnight.
Big thanks to everyone who came to today's autocross. Pretty good showing of the FFR cars. We got 17 runs in and were wrapped up and heading home before 3:30.
Factory Five's own Jim Schenck with a blistering 62.18 run was FTD and winner of the coveted Stig jacket. He was driving the new 2012 spec Challenge car. He beat the next closest competitor (highly modified Z06) by almost a second. Nice job!
All the roaster drivers are getting pretty fast. It was the talk at the timing tent. All this seat time is paying off.
My brother was there taking pictures and I know he made a point to get pictures of the Factory Five run group. I'll post them as soon as I receive them.
The next autocross is Sept 24. Come join the fun!
