I am trying to plan out my engine combo for my MK4 build coming up. I really like the old school 5.0 from the Fox body mustangs. I had 1 in my 33 and 1 in my Type 65. The 33 I went with a carb and the 65 I went with Projection III fuel injection. I am considering doing a mild 5.0 mod but use the factory computer. I will be changing the intake, throttle body, cam, heads, etc. I was wondering what is out there that works well to tune the ECU? I had to reflash the ECU on my first 2 818 builds. I am interested in hearing from those that have used the FFR engine harness and did a modification to the ECU. I am trying to decide to go this route or do another aftermarket F.I. system. Thanks for any help on this matter. TW

Tom,
The A9L ECU from the fox Mustangs is very adaptable even without a flash. We have run superchargers, twin turbos, cam and head swaps, and a variety of different intakes all without ever needing a reflash. The current challenge series engine package makes around 375hp with cam, heads, and intake and no reflash needed and has excellent drivability. The key is to get an injector that is sized correctly for the power you want and then match it with a mass air meter calibrated for that injector size. Also you will want to have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator to allow for tuning the AFR at wide open throttle.

Thanks Jim. That answers my questions exactly.

I thought that the A9Ls were getting real hard to find.

After doing some research and checking my budget I decided to go the same route I did with my Type 65 Coupe. I will use Professional Products Projection III. Thanks for all the input. It helped me out very much. This is why I like this forum so much.
