As I ponder the interior of my 818, I had a thought: how do I get an interior that looks as nice as the exterior? First I thought that I'd head down to RISD (Rhode Island School of Design) and ask if there are any students in their auto design classes that would like to compete to come up with a feasible 818 interior with the winner's design getting implemented on my car. Then I was thinking, maybe this challenge could be opened up to the broader community just as the 818 design was originally a few years ago. I am imagining a new dash, center console/tunnel, seats (likely spec'd as off-the-shelf from some supplier), and the gauges, iPads, vents, grab handles, etc. In particular challenge the use of textures: carbon, pile carpet, loop carpet, alcanara, chrome, billet, softtouch, etc.
I'd really like my car to look like something special on the inside. You know, kind of like the feeling you get when you sink down into the seat of a 911, or if you have ever had the chance at a show (or maybe a friend's), Ferrari or Lamborghini, etc.
When I look at the Lotus Elise, and the new Alfa Romeo, they all have nice interiors and so should the 818!
Anyone want to share some thoughts? If I were successful in getting RISD interested or some other effort started, is there any interest out there? Maybe FFR would help spearhead an effort like this?
