Hey all,

I just ordered an 818c after lurking, reading and researching quite a bit.

A bit about me:

This will be my first kit car, it'll be a weekend cruiser, but I'd ideally like to have some wheel/tire and suspension setups that will allow for quick configuration for drag or road racing. My last project was a 1997 s-10 with a 383. I've always liked light and fast, and have been saving my pennies for an Ariel Atom. This, of course, will be more fun, and I thank the guy who I sold my s10 to (an autocrosser), who suggested building.

I went to school for engineering, but decided that I liked working on cars a lot. After 15 years of wrenching, I decided being a dealer master tech wasn't fun anymore. I've since started my own engineering company, doing design and manufacturing for innovative products, largely automotive. I've never had any formal Subaru training, though I've worked for Ford, Porsche, and Cadillac dealers, largely doing diagnostic, driveability and electrical work.

My wife will be helping. She loves a project but doesn't have any automotive experience, but her organizational skills will be greatly helpful, I believe. She wants to learn to weld and all, is pretty much ready to dive in.

I've never tig welded before, so this will be a bit of a learning experience for me as well.

The vision for the car:

In addition to what was mentioned above, I'd like the daily trim to have some large wheels, something supercar-esque, that looks sleek and exotic. I'll start with a factory engine build, get the car operating the way I'd like in general, and then do a destroke/e85 build at a later date. Shooting for 5-600whp in that configuration.

I still have yet to find a donor, but I've got my eyes out, so it should be soon. I'll post a build thread when I break ground and link it here.

Welcome to the forum!I built a MKII but the 818 looks like a lot of fun. I wish I had the time and money , I would build the 818 for a daily driver. Roger
