The rear end has these funny brackets that are attached to the axle ends with a u-bolt and appear to back up the bolts holding the caliper brackets. They are all rusted up and I can replace them but I question their need. Anyone know what they are for and if I can send them back to the scrap yard? As always, thank you very much,

Those secure the anti moan brackets to the housing. Without them the brakes will, well...moan as you come to a stop. Keep them.

Correct, Clean 'em up and reuse them.
How wide is the axle? 59.25 is what you want for a FFR roadster with 10.5 wheels..

Anti moan brackets, huh? Could have fooled me. I thought they were just more Ford bling!! I will leave them in service if you say so. The axle is a 96 w/ 3.27 ratio. I am not building a race car, just a nice little ('33) cruiser for momma and me. The axle width is approx 60.25. I did pull off the tone rings which I hope is OK for this setup? Any input is always welcome. Thanks gents
