The Simoene Museum in Philadelphia had a one day presentation on December 12th detailing the preservation and conservation work done to CSX2287 back in 2007. My wife and I made the two hour trip to the museum for the event and are glad that we did. The only unrestored Daytona Coupe was right there in the main room, inches away from everyone, with the hood/nose open. Fred Simeone gave the lecture and showed photos of the work. After the lecture they started the engine. Awesome.

Here's some photos. I can post more if anyone is interested.

I would love it if you would post as many pictures as you would care to post!

It's a beautiful car, and it is certainly at a great place. Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Steve

I'll get some more pictures up this weekend.

John, sorry, no video. My wife did record it on her iPhone but it doesn't sound very good.

I was at the Philadelphia auto show last February where CSX2287 was on display. I spoke with the staff at length and eventually they invited me behind the ropes. Somewhere there's a picture of me standing next to it with the admonition "Don't lean on it!" fresh in my mind.

Here's a link to a bunch of pics on my Flickr page: https://flic.kr/s/aHsjS5pcCv

We saw it last winter at the DC show when it was inaugurated into that federal important things in America or something group. We got to go inside the ropes as my friend and I were there early on the first day of the show while most people were working. Spent maybe 30 minutes looking and talking to the two men there. My overall impression was that I understand this preservation rather than restoration idea, but jeez that this is ragged out. You engine pic shows a perfect example-would it really hurt to squirt some rattle can flat black exhaust paint on the headers?

I was at the Demo Day when the coupe was let out to run in the parking lot. Much better than just hearing the engine run.
Personally undecided about the preserve versus restore argument.
Having observed the tire cord exposed on the sidewall, it was a little risky to let the beast off her leash.
