Grill hood mounts with A/C

I've just completed the grill, radiator, condenser and fan assembly. The A/C instructions say to reverse the hood mounts on this assembly. I did that but it appears the mounts (pushed all the way in towards the grill) will still stick out beyond the grill contour and then won't allow the hood or grill shell to fit flush against the grill. Anyone have experience with this or know what the logic is to reverse them from the normal installation?

I just followed the instructions in the FFR manual and had no problems. I also used the Mike Everson shroud. I highly recommend it for best cooling. Check out my 33 build thread for pics of this part of the build. I hope this helps you out.
