I thought this would be an easy one to solve. But no!

The brass fittings with the CNC reservoirs are smaller than the plastic spouts on the Whitby PB master cylinder. I was wondering how to join the two. Originally I replaced the brass fittings in the CNC with bigger ones to match the spouts. But the hose required is too big and ugly, and doesn't bend how I want it.

So I tried what Whitby suggested. I popped out the plastic spouts in the MC, and replaced with a 90 degree (fuel line?) fitting with an NPT thread one end and a barbed spout the other end. This fitting screwed very tightly into the rubber grommet in the cylinder. I thought I had solved it, but it appears fluid gets drawn up the NPT thread and leaks! Doh!

Whitby used to include a reducer in their kit, but no more.

Is there an easy fix?

The connections in the bottom of the CNC reservoirs are 1/8 in. NPT. For my last build, I had a mixture of 5/16 and 3/8 inch hose, plus the straight connections supplied with the CNC reservoirs make for some interesting bends in a tight space. I used these right angle fittings from Summit. Worked perfect. Maybe would help your installation.

Also, normally you should use some type of sealant on NPT fittings. Provides a little lubrication plus sealing for the tapered threads. I normally use Loctite 567, but others can work too. Use it sparingly and none on the first couple threads. Generally not recommended to use Teflon tape for anything brake related.

Thanks Ed. I have same fittings coming out of CNC, and I am assuming I need to put back the plastic spouts that came with the Whitby kit. Then I need to work out how to go from large spout to small fitting. So do you mean you used a larger hose on the spout, then a length of small hard pipe to get you down to the same size on the CNC?

I use whatever fittings are needed on the CNC reservoir to match the inlets to the MC's. Same size at each end and then one piece of hose. The two fittings I linked to fit my previous build, which included the MC on a hydroboost unit and a Wilwood clutch MC. Just looking at the fittings I need to connect to on my new build, expect it to be similar.

Thanks Ed. I understand. That's what I initially did. The larger fitting was on the MC. But the hose I needed was huge and ugly.
