Mine measures 17 but I took 3/4" off the dash support L-brackes and made a set of functional dash support tubes. I reduced the angle to minimize seeing gauge reflection in my windshield at night.

Hey Chief-
Do you think that the 3/4" change made a significant difference in the resulting glare? I know you don't have a specific before/after picture or diagnostic for which to compare; however, do you think it is worth it?
I am considering making a similar change, and am curious if it is worth the effort. Another consideration is that I plan on building a dash continuation above the trans tunnel and mating into the dash. This would make sure that the continuation doesn't travel too far towards the gear shift, perhaps even enough to ensure there is enough room for the cupholders I am considering.
As always, I appreciate your insight!

Steve

I cannot compare to what it might have been like at the original angle but I would do it again. I have driven plenty at night or early (dark) morning and have had no issue with reflected glare.
One thing to remember ... my firewall is 3" forward and my heater is behind the center gauges ... barely.
I have cup holders and an ashtray on my dash and the big watch out is where things fall in relation to the tunnel cross braces.
Check my build album (http://s682.photobucket.com/user/nukemmc/library/Mk4%208189) for info.

I used the small brackets that came in my base kit as a guide. They were meant to mount the stock Mustang light switch etc under the dash. Based on that my dash is 6 3/4" from the 2" tube to the face of the bare aluminum of the dash.

I apologize for the minor thread detour! I should have contacted Chief directly. I will keep a better eye out for this in the future.
Although I am grateful for the wise counsel as I always seem to get!
Thanks again!

Steve
