Team Boothman's Car Arrives at Factory Five for Updates

Factory Five's favorite son Mark Dougherty delivered old #85 yesterday and turned around and made a b-line for Pennsylvania so he could attend the Carlisle Import and Replicas show.

Ed Boothman's dark green Challenge Car arrived here the other day for some race upgrades. The car last ran at the 2010 NASA 25 Hours of Thunderhill road race last December and is slated for races at Virginia International Raceway this July. The tech guys here are going over the car and prepping it for the season.

Amazingly, this car has competed in 4 (!) 25 Hour endurance races (bragging here) and is an amazing testimony to the degree to which Factory Five cars are raced and have been proven over the years.

Team Boothman Racing and the 375hp Challenge car ran the fastest actual lap time of the FFR cars at 1:54.692! The car had a constant stream of drivers coming over to it, asking about what just passed them!

A well deserved thumbs up after 25 hours of endurance racing.

Those hood louvers look like ones on the top of the front wheel arches of the black GTM. I never would have thought that such big vents would look so good.

Dave,
how much for a set of those hood louvres? They look great, and I think I want them on my roadster too ....

Tim,

Those are the Gen 2 GTM nose vents. They are SKU #26149 and #26150 and they cost $99 each.

Best regards,

Went looking for news of the 25 and found this: "The race experienced a red flag stoppage at 5:45 a.m. for a car fire in the No. 85 Bootman Racing FFR in Turn Two. Racing resumed at 25-minutes later."

Is everyone okay?

No one was hurt. Good write up on the race in the GTM section...

Thanks. Saw that Karen had a rough time of it as well, rolling the Coupe. Saw that she walked away from it and did an interview afterwards. Glad she is okay as well.

Edited by choice.......

Dave Riha was driving when the car rolled...... 30 people worked their butts off before the race, and got that car back together and on the grid......Dave walked away because he had the gift of a great car that saved him.

The camera crew came over and interviewed me because I am the team owner. The TV crew had read our pre-race post on the NASA website, and saw that this team was running the car having returned from the adversity of us loosing Andy....I had done an interview with them earlier in the day, and they were very kind in wishing us the best of luck in the race.....Like us (and a thousand other people at the track), upon hearing that the Coupe had rolled, they were shocked that anyone would have let one scratch happen to the car, and they came right over to get the story.

The fact that we won the 6 Hours and completed the entire 25 Hours race is a testimony to the passion, dedication, teamwork, and sheer determination of the Thunder Valley Racing team. They are amazing people!

Sorry, Karen. I watched the video with the sound off (I was at work but desperate for updates) and that's how I got the mistaken impression that you were driving. I'm sure that it's difficult to keep your cool after something like this. You might want to go to a gym and take out your frustrations on a body bag with Dave's picture on it. :p

Karen, I am just catching up (as usual) and I havent had a chance to talk with you about the race. My heart is heavy for you and the team and I am trying to get my head around your car and the Boothman car. Everyone here at FFR stands in abject AWE of your accomplishments. I'll call you in a bit
