Zero Decibel Motorsports, Coupe Style Hood Hinge

What: Group buy for hood hinges that swing the hood forward and allow you to eliminate the front hood pins. This version is the version compatible with the coupe front end. It also will work for the S/R original front end if you desire to add a mesh grille and need clearance over the top of the grill. The Coupe style arm is much more swept back to provide the clearance and, as it requires 2x the material it also costs 2x as much for the single piece.

Individuals wishing to upgrade their S/R front end to the coupe front end only need to purchase the arm. All of the existing S/R hinge parts are compatible with the coupe hinge.

To make it financially easier for existing customers to retrofit, prices for these pieces is only $10 over my actual cost. Mr. wonderful on Shark Tank would call me stupid. Good thing I don't like Mr. Wonderful.

Group buy will stay a couple of weeks depending on volume of response. 50% deposit due at the end of group buy. Lead time on parts is roughly 2 weeks after the group buy closes.

It's on the list of things to do. Not 100% sure what it is since the manual has no updates for the coupe yet. I have seen the same trunk bracket in the coupe kit so it might be similar.

I'm counting anyone who wants a full set or just arms towards the total as the biggest expense is the arms. In my pricing spreadsheet I have the costs for all of the non-arm parts set at the 30pc purchase price (which was the original group buy). The only thing affecting the group buy price this time is the cost of the arms.

No. 40 pieces (which is 20 kits) is about the point of diminishing returns for amortizing the setup fees. 30 Pieces (15 sets) was only about $1 more per piece compared to 40 pieces.

In post 35i mentioned I had a little something planned. I designed some new shirts and had them made. The plan was to give them out free with any order over $100. Thus, everyone getting a hinge gets a free shirt. Three colors, small through xl, maybe a couple xxl, can't remember. Least quantity color is the gray. They were supposed to be dark heather which is of black with lighter flecks. Instead I think they used graphite heather which is the lighter gray with darker flecks.

Update for everyone: The bases are welded and assembled to the arms. I haven't had any garage time in a couple weeks so I ended up sending all of the parts to be welded by my friend who used to weld for indycar. He has had the hood brackets for a week so I expect sometime this week I'll get them back. I can start boxing parts up and shipping at that point.

Some people might pay a few bucks more, some might save a few bucks, but it's a lot less work that how I did it before (shipping and sending invoices for actual shipping charges for every person). In general, I think the size of the box is driving most of the cost as some states far away were coming up with quotes very similar to some not quite as far away.
