Let's get started with how this non donor build got started. I am 65 years old and have had open heart surgery, two lower back surgeries and total hip replacement. I wasn't expecting to start a project like this because for the last 3 years I have been in my red chair. However, I went over to my daughters house and saw a jar with change that I assumed was for the grandchildren. I asked Molly about it and she said it was David's savings for a Factory five roadster. I needed a reason to put my pants on every morning and start moving. David my son in law needed a complete kit before he is my age. So I made a deal with my son in law, that we would buy us a car if we could build it in my shop at my house. In August of this year, we ordered a complete kit with some nice options. We also ordered a new Coyote motor and 5spd transmission with necessary parts for installation. We also ordered Nitto tires and a rear end assembly from Mike Forte who has been a great help. This got me going and I cleaned up my shop for the first time in 3 years and waited on our kit that was delivered on a Sunday morning in the middle of November. I had converted an old engine stand with heavy duty wheels into a cart which we set the roadster off the Stewart truck and onto the cart and then into the shop. The next two days, my wife and I inventoried all of our parts. We have really been impressed with Factoryfive and how they do business. So we actually got started the last week in November with the front end assembly, drilling, and deburing of all the aluminum panels. David does the real work and I do the debur ring. We have mounted our master cylinders for brakes and clutch, run our stainless steel lines and riveted as many panels as possible. We are going with the brushed aluminum look for all exposed panels as well as an undercoat on any panels exposed to the elements. Last night, I had 3 neighbors over in order to put our car on jack stands for rear end installation. When I figure out how to post pictures we will start posting. I have a reason to put my pants on and am in the shop by 5 am every morning. Usually just my dog (Tucker) and me, drinking coffee and cleaning up. Oh yea, we do a little tinkering! 48387 48388483894839048386

Your son has a great looking shop! I am trying to figure out how to post pictures as well as to post to the forum. Is y'all's car completely built?

Stanley,
I am 68 and just finished my build after 14 months. Had help but enjoyed the hell out of it. Just wait until it is finished. You are going to have a blast building and driving. Be warned though, there is a void after it is finished. You will be looking for the next car. Good luck. Listen to the forum. There are a bunch of really knowledgeable guys especially, Jeff Kleiner, Mark Reynolds, Mark Doughterty, Edward B (Paul) and Da Bat among many. You will soon learn who knows what. Henry

There's more old farts doing this then I thought. I started my build on my 69th birthday and finished on my 70th. The journey is as enjoyable as the destination, so have fun and keep us posted.
