Does anyone have any experience working with these folks? They have a great deal on a 347 with a Dart Block, ARP heads, Quickfuel Carb and great looking internals for just shy of 10K. It looks like a great motor. I am wondering if they do good quality work and provide good quality customer service?

Looks like the 427 @ 460HP is same price? Did I read that correctly? 3 year unlimited mileage is hard to beat.

Yeah, it seems like they have pretty good prices...wondering if they have good quality and service to go with them?

Brian Smith's Book "How to Build Cobra Kit Cars" describes Smeding very favorably (has one of the lowest warranty-return ratios in the industry" ... "reliable, proven, high-performance engines"). Provided Smith with a 351W 427 that produced 555 HP and 557 TQ.

Google Smeding Performance Engines review and you will get the usual mix of praise and avoid at all cost. I too remember the write-up from Brian Smith's book. That was a high end Dart aluminum 351 block, and the description and pictures from the build looked pretty impressive. The price for the referenced 347 is decent. Wish they would cite a few more brands for the parts they use, but looks to be a solid build. They don't have any details on their website about their warranty. I sure would want to know more before deciding that's a real advantage. Some say 1 year, some 2, some 3, one statement says 1 year is standard and up to 3 can be purchased, and nowhere does it was what's included, what conditions, etc. I did a similar short block build from Fordstrokers, although Jim used a little more aggressive cam, I used an Air Gap vs. the Victor intake, and a 750 carb vs. the 650. In the end, about the same money and I had to do the final assembly. It hasn't been dynoed, but estimates are a little more HP and torque than what's listed for the Smeding version. It runs great. Dart 347 or 363 is a great choice for these builds IMO.

We have a Smeding 427W in our build and VERY happy with it. Dart block AFR heads, great internals like H-beam rods. Built to last and dyno tested. Mike Forte here can probably swing a similar deal too...

Ordered the 427W recently and they were outstanding to work with and dyno sheet looks great, have not fired it up yet, hoping to around Christmas break. So far, I could not be happier with it. Jim
