I had been looking through what folks are doing with the exhaust location from the standard FFR option (right rear bumper) to the beautiful quad tip look that bbjones created. I couldn't remember what was done on the black 818C that FFR took to SEMA so I went back and looked at the pictures.

Am I missing something here? Was this a running car or just a "demo"? I don't see the exhaust port. Maybe I am just missing something stupid.

Hi the black 818c at SEMA is a running car with a 6 speed , We dump the exhaust at the bottom of the rear pan on the outside of the rear diffuser. you can see it it's flush with the body.
thanks!!

Where do you get the rear bumper vents at? Is this something that should have been in my C kit or is this an extra add on?

Thanks Tony!
Is there any info or a spec on what was done to accomplish that? I do like how clean it looks.

That's how I was going to do my exhaust for a while but I was worried that (especially when idling), that the exhaust would come into the engine compartment and then into the cabin (on my non-coupe version). As others have discovered, the cabin is a low pressure area due to the windshield and it tends to draw air from the engine compartment in.

I'm guessing this was a custom thing they added, I'm copying.

I figured that as well. I was planning to do the same thing! However, I though there whole display was built on all standard FF parts, with the only mods being factory five for sale options. Never saw it as an option so I figured maybe it was a new standard? Anyways good to at least know its not a missing item.

The mesh supplied (at least as of my kit a year ago) is very different from the mesh on the back of the 818C that was at SEMA. It looks like a finer mesh that has been pressed to have shape to it, as opposed to the flat mesh with circular holes and aluminum trim that comes with the kits.
The version on the show car is very OEM/"factory" level fit and finish compared to what comes with the kit (again, the kits as of a year ago).

I got some, but it is all for a specific place. Nothing like "extra mesh". I wish I could get what ffr is using.

Many options on ebay. Search for aluminum mesh. Saw some cool honeycomb stuff the other day.

I can take some pictures when I visit FFR in 2 weeks.

Redfogo, better than what FFR used is what you think is best and there are lots of choices. See McNichols.com for a selection in their stores. From McN I bought a 4x8 sheet of hex perforated from which I have cut all the body vents, and more. This perf hex flows more air and, I think, looks better than the supplied screening, but you should use what you think is best. The fun of these cars is building them as YOU like!

Pete, are those holes on the sheet you bought from McNichols .25 inches in diameter?

I bought perforated hex pattern, 1/2" holes on 9/16"staggered centers. It is 80% open. I got 16 gauge steel because my 818 is a street car and I think strength is more important than the slight weight difference, but aluminum is also available. I used rattle can gloss black after I cut and shaped each screen. Again, look at all the choices available because I think the body vent screens are very important to the look and my 1/2" holes allow more air flow than the supplied round-hole screen.
