If you did use the later wider rear end 61.125" vs the 87-93 59.25", did it alter your wheel choice or do the same sizes work? Thanks for any input.

I really don't think the stock offsets will work. I would just swap the axles and get the offset brake brackets. The axles can be bought through Rock auto for real cheap.

So do you get 87-93 axles and the offset brackets? Who sells the brackets. Thanks for the quick answer.

Fortes sells them. North Race cars as well. You need axles from a ford ranger or windstar. I will see if I can find the part number.

I used the wider rear end from a 2000GT I'm sure I will have to change the backset when I buy wheels so they will look right with my full fender car.
I bought a pair of brackets for mine from North racecars that let me put 13" disc on the back and I'm getting ready to put 13's on the front too so 17"
will be the minimum that would clear but I'm leaning to 18's for more tire choices anyway.

I used a rear axle from a 96 - 98 Mustang GT with a 3.08 rear end. works well with the Tremec TKO 500 which has a lower first gear than most. The hub to hub distance is 61.5" I think this is 1.5" longer than the earlier years that most people get due to the fact that Ford started using the antilock brake sensing ring. Anyway, the length was no problem for me. My wheels are 18" X 10" with a 25 mm offset and tires are 275-35-18. I ended up cutting some width off of the fenders to get the edge of the tire to be just inside the edge of the fender. On the inside, I have about 1" gap between tire and the body.
