Ok ... Question in relation to long term body storage. Having not dealt with Fiberglas / Composite material much in the past I was wondering if someone had any information or comments about long term storage of the gel coat body in very close proximity to fluorescent lighting and not wanting to cause any detoriaration to the material.
My roadster body will be suspended for extended periods at around 6" from my garage lighting.
Any input would be appreciated

Hey there! I don't think you should have any problems here.. If it's that much of a concern to you, it wouldn't hurt to cover it before you suspend it. You should be fine though. The lighting shouldn't cause any damage to the gel coat or fiberglass.

Builders out here in California store their bodies outside in the sunshine, heat (110) and cold (26) all of the time with no problems. My roadster body was out in the elements for 16 months. Fluorescent lighting should not affect the gel coat.

I can't imagine any ill effects from fluorescent lighting. Heck, they don't store them on bucks or inside at the factory!

I stored mine (gel-coated) on a buck outside for 6 months with a canvas tarp over it through snow storms, until Jeff came and picked it up. When he returned it painted, just stored it flat on the garage floor on a rug for about a year, shimmed where required so all parts touched the rug. Admittedly not the best way, but they are forgiving.

Thanks everyone for your input on this..I know I'm not going to be setting any build timeframe records withy build and didn't want to be causing any damages to the body. Thanks again for the replies
