I would like to paint my engine the same color as the exterior ( metallic maroon). Cannot find anyone to color match with high temp paint (500F+) but TCP will match with acrylic enamel ( 325F max). Does the engine block stay roughly close in temp to the coolant? Sherwin Williams tells me regular body paint will not work. Will appreciate your thoughts!

The block itself will not see very high temps, but the heads can see 500F +. If you have aluminum heads, then no worries.

After speaking with many painters, it seems that if you are painting your car with 2 pak then you can use the same paint to paint the engine. I spoke to Charlie Hutton about this when he was in Australia and was advised to go this way. Hope this helps.

i have seen a lot of cars using regular catalyzed paint on engines, although light colors discolor around exhaust ports on cylinder heads. Most of the engine is well cooled, but it all depends on the design of the engines cyl head.
