View Full Version : Whats up with Whitby Motorcars?

I ordered parts from Whitby Motorcars back in mid September. I called him by phone and placed my order, he took my credit card info. A few weeks later I called and asked if he had a tracking number, said he was on the road, but he knows the parts shipped. I got a pending charge on my Amex on 10/04. Amex flagged this charge as a possible fraud, I told them it was OK. I called Whitby to tell them to go ahead that the charge had cleared. I called him again on 10/06 to get a tracking number, said he would ship the parts out the next day. Now a month later, charge still shows pending, no parts, no calls, no communication.

Is this guy reliable? Anybody else had any experience like this?

They're a longstanding supporter of our hobby and these builds. But their order fulfillment process isn't exactly Summit Racing or whatever. I've had to call a couple times to get an order processed as well. I wouldn't wait so long between calls. If nothing is happening, call again.

Jeff at Whitby is a good guy. My master cylinder in my power brake kit was faulty and he is sending another. Yes I had to send a couple of emails, made two phone calls, but he assured me he will be sending it.

I ordered a brake kit and got the same type of experience from them. Maybe this will be a gentle way to get their attention. I do not understand some folks when you are trying to give them money! If they do not want your money just say so upfront that way we do not waste their time. Customer service is everything in business , there is such a lack of it from some companies.

I had a bad master come with my brake kit as well. I did get a new one but I had to phone a couple of times. It looks like the new one might be leaking too though....unfortunately Whitby modifies the master (Nissan Quest) so I can't buy from an alternate source.

I'm going to give him another call Monday, but I don't think he is too interested in fulfilling my order, considering he had the parts in stock. I will have to look elsewhere if I don't get my parts within a week.

That Jeff guy's a bum! I'm sorry to hold you up Mark. Your parts shipped USPS on Thursday tracking # 9405803699300105239978. According to USPS it should have arrived today. Hopefully it did. We were out of stock on those and had to make more. It shouldn't take two months and I'm sorry it did. We had a supply issue with our MC supplier and were not sure if we would be able to continue with our power brake kit design. The part you ordered is a component of that kit. We were trying to get that resolved to determine if the frame mod would need changing. We have it all worked out, just this week actually. 5 kits went out last week, and 17 more are sitting in shipping. I'm sorry you got caught up in our engineering/supply issue. We never run a CC until an order is shipped, unless the customer request it. Sometime they do if they are international. I appreciate everyone's support and advice today and through the years. We've never been perfect but we do try our best everyday. Some days you can even tell it. We will improve our communication. I'm not offended at all Frank, I appreciate your advice and respect your opinion. Olli, let me know what is up with your leak and we can try to help you out. Thanks for the opportunity to get better, and I hope to see you out on the road.
